Arabic Cultural Exchange: Chicago/Casablancan Performance
Lane Tech's World Language Students attending Mr. Danja's Honors Arabic Classes have the unique opportunity to experience an authentic cultural exchange with students in Chicago's sister city, Casablanca, Morocco to develop global citizenship, awareness, and mutual respect.
Using Internet video conferencing, Lane Tech's Arabic Language students will write theatrical pieces in Arabic to be enacted by their Moroccan pen pals, who will also write plays in English that Lane Tech's Arabic Language students will perform.
Through this real-time international exchange, these young people with different backgrounds, beliefs, traditions, and cultures will teach each other their languages and deeply transform each others' lives.
Students in both cities will be assisted by visiting resident artists from the Global Voices Initiative. Visiting Lane Tech will be Theater and Performance Resident Artist El Hassan Amejal.
In order for our students to enjoy the benefits of participating during this school year, this project must be fully funded by April 1st.
If you make your donation by January 19th, then DonorsChoose.org will generously double your contribution! Just enter the code SPARK on the payment page and you'll be matched dollar-for-dollar (up to $100).
Your gift through DonorsChoose.org will help to support this life-changing educational project for our Lane Tech students and promote global citizenship and understanding.
